Ikkis Struggles to Gain Momentum at the Box Office
Ikkis has found itself on shaky ground at the box office as it wraps up its first week in cinemas. While the film opened to encouraging reviews from critics, audience turnout has remained limited, preventing it from making a strong commercial impact.
The war drama, led by Agastya Nanda and Dharmendra, was expected to find steady footing given its subject and the pedigree of its director. However, weekday collections have painted a different picture, with numbers staying modest across most regions.
Day 6 Collection Highlights
On its sixth day in theatres, Ikkis managed to collect around Rs 1.5 crore, pushing its total domestic earnings to approximately Rs 23 crore. While not a disastrous figure, the film has fallen short of expectations, especially when compared to the benchmarks usually set for films with a wide release.
The anticipated jump towards the Rs 25 crore mark did not materialise, indicating that audience interest has not grown significantly after release.
Low Occupancy Continues

Cinema occupancy has remained on the lower side throughout the week. Morning and afternoon shows in multiplexes have seen thin crowds, with only a slight improvement during evening slots. Single screens in select towns have shown marginally better response, though not enough to change the overall trend.
As a result, several theatres have reduced show timings, opting to prioritise films that are pulling in larger audiences.
Competition Takes a Toll
One of the major hurdles for Ikkis has been the strong performance of competing releases that continue to dominate screen space and viewer attention. With limited screens available, Ikkis has struggled to hold its ground, particularly in urban centres where choices for moviegoers are plenty.
Despite the lack of major new Hindi releases this week, the film has not been able to capitalise on the breathing space.
A Crucial Film for the Cast
Ikkis marks Agastya Nanda’s first proper theatrical outing after his debut in The Archies, making the film an important step in his career. For veteran actor Dharmendra, the film carries emotional weight as it is widely seen as his final appearance on the big screen, a sentiment that initially generated interest among audiences.
Directed by Sriram Raghavan, known for delivering critically acclaimed films like Badlapur and Andhadhun, Ikkis was expected to strike a balance between strong storytelling and commercial appeal. However, as seen with his previous film Merry Christmas, critical praise has not translated into box office success.
What the Coming Days Hold
With the film now entering its second week, trade observers expect collections to taper further unless there is a sudden shift driven by word of mouth or weekend footfalls. The arrival of new releases in the coming days could further limit its theatrical run.
For now, Ikkis appears to be another example of a well-reviewed film that struggled to connect with a wider audience, highlighting once again the gap between critical appreciation and box office performance in today’s market.
