Flop

Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi star in Bhool Chuk Maaf Review, a drama-comedy that loops endlessly without a clear ending. The movie is about the chaos of a day that never ends.

Bhool Chuk Maaf is a fantasy-comedy with a time-loop plot that takes place in the lively ghats and streets of Banaras. It was made by the same people who made Stree. At first, the premise sounds interesting, but the movie quickly becomes confusing and doesn’t have enough story depth to support its attempts to mix genres.

A story stuck in its own loop

Rajkummar Rao plays Ranjan Tiwari, a guy from a small town who wants to marry his girlfriend Titli (Wamiqa Gabbi) and needs to get a government job badly. Just as things start to get better, he gets stuck in a strange time loop at the haldi ceremony and has to live through the same day over and over again. Karan Sharma, the director, wrote a script that doesn’t build enough suspense or make sense to support this premise. The plot goes in circles, which makes viewers confused instead of entertained.

Good actors, but a bad script

The cast’s performances stand out, even though the movie has some problems. There is a lot of energy on screen from Rajkummar Rao, and Wamiqa Gabbi backs him up with a strong, heartfelt performance. Helping actors like Seema Pahwa, Raghubir Yadav, Sanjay Mishra, and Ishtiyak Khan make the movie more fun at times. But the script doesn’t make good use of their skills.

Pictures That Make the Story Stand Out

It looks like Sudeep Chatterjee, the cinematographer, painted Banaras in bright, crazy colours. The movie’s visual appeal often overpowers its plot, giving viewers brief moments of pleasure in the way it looks. It’s a cute setting, but that can’t save the movie from its jumbled tone and lacklustre humour.

A mix of genres that doesn’t work

What the Bhool Chuk Maaf Review shows is a movie that wants to be a lot of different things: a romantic comedy, a family drama, a fantasy story, and a social commentary. It tries to be everything, though, and ends up not being very much at all. The movie tries to find humour in chaos, but it often misses the joke.
