Dhurandhar 2 Box Office Crosses Baahubali 2 Worldwide Record

Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge has officially rewritten Indian box office history after surpassing Baahubali 2: The Conclusion to become the second highest-grossing Indian film of all time worldwide. The Ranveer Singh-led spy thriller crossed the long-standing milestone during its 46-day theatrical run and has now moved beyond Rs 1,790 crore globally, continuing to attract audiences even as it nears the end of its seventh week in cinemas.

The achievement marks a major moment for modern Hindi cinema. Baahubali 2, directed by SS Rajamouli, had held the record for nearly nine years and was widely credited with changing the scale and reach of Indian theatrical releases across regions. With Dhurandhar 2 now edging past that lifetime total, the film has positioned itself directly behind Aamir Khan’s Dangal in the all-time worldwide rankings.

According to trade figures, the film grossed Rs 1,788.35 crore globally by Day 46, narrowly overtaking Baahubali 2, which ended its run at Rs 1,788.06 crore. In the days since crossing the milestone, the collections have continued to rise steadily, taking the worldwide total to over Rs 1,790 crore by Day 48. Even though the film is now competing with multiple new releases across languages and genres, its hold at the box office remains unusually strong for a film this deep into its theatrical run.

Dhurandhar 2 Box Office Continues Strong Seventh-Week Run

The latest Dhurandhar 2 box office numbers show that the film is still drawing audiences despite natural slowdowns that arrive after several weeks in theatres. On its seventh Tuesday, the film earned around Rs 0.57 crore net in India, slightly improving from Monday’s collection. While the increase may appear modest compared to the film’s gigantic opening weeks, trade analysts pointed out that weekday growth during the seventh week is uncommon for big-budget blockbusters, especially with fresh competition entering cinemas every Friday.

What has surprised industry trackers is not simply the amount being collected, but the consistency with which the film continues to attract footfalls. Reports indicate that occupancy levels saw a visible rise from Monday to Tuesday, while the number of screenings also increased across several circuits. Online ticket sales reflected the same trend, suggesting that repeat viewers and franchise fans are still contributing to the film’s late-stage momentum.

The film has also continued to hold a position among the top-performing titles in premium multiplex chains such as PVR, INOX and Cinepolis. Even on Day 48, Dhurandhar 2 reportedly remained inside the national Top 5 in ticket sales, outperforming several newer releases despite losing a substantial share of screens over recent weeks. For a film that has already completed nearly seven weeks in cinemas, that level of consistency is being viewed as a major achievement by trade circles.

Film Maintains Momentum Despite Heavy Competition

Unlike its early weeks, when the film enjoyed relatively clear dominance at the box office, Dhurandhar 2 is now facing competition from a crowded theatrical market that includes Hollywood releases, regional blockbusters and fresh Hindi titles. Films such as Raja Shivaji, Bhooth Bangla, Patriot and The Devil Wears Prada 2 have all entered cinemas during its extended run, resulting in reduced screen counts and divided audience attention.

Despite those challenges, the film has managed to maintain a stable presence in urban centres and multiplex circuits. Analysts tracking its performance believe the strong word-of-mouth generated during its first month continues to benefit the film, especially among audiences revisiting the movie or recommending it to new viewers. The ability to sustain audience interest beyond the traditional blockbuster window has become one of the defining features of its theatrical journey.

The film’s India net collection now stands at over Rs 1,139 crore, while the domestic gross has crossed Rs 1,364 crore. Overseas collections have also remained impressive, contributing more than Rs 426 crore to the worldwide tally. North America, in particular, has emerged as one of the film’s strongest international territories during its theatrical run.

No China or Gulf Release Yet Film Nears Rs 1,800 Crore

One of the most widely discussed aspects of the film’s success is that these numbers have been achieved without a release in China or Gulf countries, both of which are traditionally considered major overseas markets for Indian cinema. Industry observers have repeatedly noted that a China release alone could have significantly increased the film’s worldwide earnings, potentially pushing it well beyond the Rs 1,850 crore mark.

The absence of those key markets has made the achievement even more notable within trade circles. Analysts see the film’s performance as evidence of Bollywood’s growing international reach outside its conventional overseas territories. The movie has also delivered strong results across South Indian states, becoming one of the rare Hindi films to record substantial regional success beyond the Hindi-speaking belt.

Reports indicate that the film became the first Hindi release to cross Rs 100 crore in the Telugu states. Combined collections from Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam markets contributed heavily to the domestic total, reinforcing the film’s pan-India appeal. That broad acceptance across linguistic regions has played a crucial role in helping the film sustain momentum over several weeks.

Dangal Still Holds the Top Position Worldwide

Although Dhurandhar 2 has overtaken Baahubali 2, the top global record for an Indian film still belongs to Aamir Khan’s Dangal, which earned approximately Rs 2,070 crore worldwide. Much of Dangal’s historic total came from its extraordinary success in China, where it became a cultural phenomenon and generated unprecedented overseas business for an Indian production.

Trade analysts currently believe Dhurandhar 2 may conclude its theatrical journey around the Rs 1,800 crore mark, which would still place it comfortably ahead of most Indian blockbusters in history. While the film is unlikely to challenge Dangal’s worldwide benchmark, industry observers say its achievement has already reshaped conversations around the commercial potential of modern Hindi cinema.

Ranveer Singh Headlines One of Bollywood’s Biggest Hits

Directed, written and produced by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge stars Ranveer Singh alongside Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, Sara Arjun, Rakesh Bedi and Danish Pandor. The spy action drama follows Indian secret service operative Jaskirt Singh Rangi, also known as Hamza, as he undertakes a dangerous mission aimed at neutralising threats against the country.

Released on March 19, the film quickly transformed into a theatrical phenomenon, dominating ticket sales for weeks and reportedly influencing the release strategies of competing films. What initially began as a major Bollywood event release has now evolved into one of the defining box office stories of the decade.

As the film approaches the 50-day milestone in theatres, collections are naturally slowing compared to its explosive opening phase. Yet the scale of its achievement, particularly its ability to maintain audience interest across multiple weeks and markets, has already secured Dhurandhar 2 a lasting place in Indian cinema history.
