Ragini 3 Cast Expands With Aayush Sharma Joining Tamannaah Bhatia

Ektaa Kapoor’s Ragini MMS franchise is reportedly preparing for a major comeback, and this time the makers appear to be taking the series in a very different direction. According to multiple industry reports, Aayush Sharma has now joined the cast of Ragini 3 alongside Tamannaah Bhatia, Junaid Khan, and Nargis Fakhri, with the lead lineup for the supernatural thriller believed to be nearly locked. The film is currently in pre-production and is expected to begin shooting later this year.

The project has already generated strong conversation online because the Ragini franchise has long carried a distinct identity within Bollywood horror cinema. Earlier films in the series leaned heavily into erotic-horror themes and psychological scares, but reports suggest Ragini 3 is aiming for a broader and more mainstream commercial space. The upcoming instalment is reportedly being developed as a supernatural thriller packed with suspense, humour, romance, and horror elements designed to appeal to modern theatrical audiences.

Ragini 3 Cast Brings Together Unusual Pairings

One of the biggest reasons the film has quickly attracted attention is its casting combination. Tamannaah Bhatia, who has increasingly become associated with thrillers and supernatural dramas, is expected to lead the film opposite Aayush Sharma. Reports indicate that the two actors will share a romantic storyline, while Junaid Khan is also said to play a significant role connected to Tamannaah’s character.

Nargis Fakhri, meanwhile, is reportedly stepping into the role of a police officer, adding another layer to the mystery-driven narrative. The mix of actors from very different cinematic backgrounds has created curiosity across the industry, especially because none of these performers have previously been associated with the Ragini universe.

The film is being directed by Shashanka Ghosh, known for projects such as Khoobsurat and Veere Di Wedding. His involvement suggests the film may lean more heavily into character dynamics, humour, and relationship-driven storytelling alongside supernatural horror. Reports have described the film as a “date-night horror” entertainer, indicating that the makers are trying to strike a balance between scares and commercial entertainment rather than delivering a purely dark horror experience.

For Aayush Sharma, the film marks another attempt to establish himself more firmly in mainstream commercial cinema. After debuting with LoveYatri and later appearing in Antim: The Final Truth and Ruslaan, the actor now seems to be moving towards larger ensemble projects and genre-driven entertainers. His pairing with Tamannaah is also being viewed as a fresh on-screen combination that could help the film attract younger audiences.

Franchise Moving Beyond Its Original Formula

The Ragini MMS franchise first began in 2011 with Rajkummar Rao and Kainaz Motivala in lead roles. The original film built its reputation around found-footage horror mixed with psychological tension and supernatural themes. It was followed by Ragini MMS 2 in 2014, which became particularly popular because of its music and the widespread attention around Sunny Leone’s appearance in the film.

However, industry reports indicate that Ragini 3 will intentionally move away from the franchise’s earlier erotic-horror identity. Instead, the focus this time is expected to be on supernatural storytelling, suspense, humour, and emotionally engaging character arcs. The shift appears to reflect changing audience preferences, especially at a time when horror-comedies and supernatural thrillers are performing strongly across Indian cinema.

The makers reportedly want the film to function as a more accessible theatrical entertainer rather than a niche horror title. By blending humour, romance, mystery, and horror into a single narrative, the production appears to be aiming for a wider audience reach while still retaining the franchise’s supernatural roots.

Production Delays And Directorial Change

The road to production has reportedly not been entirely smooth. Earlier reports suggested that the film had initially been delayed after original director Sahir Raza exited the project because of scheduling conflicts related to another streaming commitment. That development temporarily slowed down production plans and raised uncertainty around the film’s timeline.

With Shashanka Ghosh now officially stepping in, the project has reportedly returned to active pre-production and is expected to begin filming in July 2026. The makers are currently targeting a theatrical release later this year, depending on how quickly the production schedule moves forward.

The change in direction and tone has also added another layer of intrigue around the project. Rather than simply revisiting the earlier formula, the team appears focused on reinventing the franchise for a new generation of viewers while still maintaining the supernatural atmosphere associated with the Ragini brand.

Tamannaah And Aayush Sharma’s Expanding Slate

Apart from Ragini 3, Tamannaah Bhatia currently has a packed release calendar ahead. The actress is next set to appear opposite Sidharth Malhotra in Vvan: Force of the Forest, which is scheduled for release in August 2026. She is also attached to Ajay Devgn’s Ranger, another major theatrical release reportedly lined up for December 2026.

Aayush Sharma, meanwhile, has also been making headlines for another upcoming project announced recently. Sohail Khan officially confirmed his next directorial venture, My Punjabi Nikaah, starring Sanjay Dutt and Aayush Sharma in lead roles. The film is being positioned as a commercial entertainer built around humour, family drama, and strong North Indian cultural themes.

With Ragini 3 now reportedly finalising its principal cast and moving steadily towards production, the film is already emerging as one of Ektaa Kapoor’s most closely watched genre projects in recent years. Whether the franchise’s new creative direction resonates with audiences will likely become one of the biggest talking points once the film officially goes on floors.
