Fawad Khan’s return to Bollywood started going around the internet. The statement, which she made in an interview to promote her own movie, got a lot of attention after the terrible Pahalgam terror attack, which has brought up the issue of working with Pakistani actors in India again.
Dia Mirza Makes Things Clear
Dia Mirza began her explanation by talking directly to the media. She wrote a note on Instagram telling news outlets to “STOP misrepresenting facts.” The Bollywood actress made it clear that the quote in question came from an interview she gave on April 10, which was a long time before the Pahalgam incident.
In her letter, she said, “To the media: STOP lying about the facts.” Before this terrible terrorist attack, I gave a quote in an interview for a film I was making on April 10th. Please stop using my quotes weeks after I said them and without the proper context. It is wrong and very offensive to do this.
The Situation: “Abir Gulaal,” Fawad Khan’s return movie
Pakistani actor Fawad Khan was going to make his return to Indian movies with the movie Abir Gulaal, which also starred Vaani Kapoor. In spite of this, the film has faced strong opposition since the terror attack in Pahalgam that killed several innocent people. On social media, hashtags like #BoycottAbirGulaal started to trend, and because the actor is Indian, some movie theatres are reportedly hesitant to show the movie there.
In this highly charged atmosphere, Dia Mirza’s previously recorded comments came back to the surface, giving the wrong impression that she was in favour of Fawad Khan’s participation after the attack.
Why Dia Mirza’s Clarification Is Important
Dia Mirza, who is known for caring about people and doing honest work as a journalist, used her fame to talk about how dangerous it is to report false information. It’s easy to take quotes out of context and use them in the wrong way, especially during sensitive times, as her post showed.
It was praised by many of her fans and supporters that she cleared the air and stood up for herself in a responsible way. “It’s important for famous people like Dia Mirza to correct the story, especially when false information can cause confusion or backlash in the public eye,” someone wrote on her Instagram post.
Bollywood’s ongoing fight with Pakistani artists
This is not the only incident like this. A lot of the time, political unrest has caught the Indian film industry in the middle. Following the 2019 Pulwama terror attack, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) told all Indian entertainment projects not to use Pakistani artists. That directive is still in effect, which makes working with Pakistani artists a touchy subject.
When Ae Dil Hai Mushkil came out in 2016, Fawad Khan ran into the same problems. In the end, Karan Johar had to make a public statement saying he would never work with Pakistani actors again.
