Deepika Padukone removed from Spirit starring Prabhas and directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga

Deepika Padukone is no longer part of “Spirit.”

Deepika Padukone has apparently been taken out of Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s highly anticipated movie Spirit, which stars Prabhas as the main character. Deepika and Prabhas were supposed to star together after the success of Kalki 2898 AD, but it looks like things aren’t going well. South Indian entertainment websites say that the decision to fire Padukone was made after conflicts over creative issues, scheduling, and what was expected on set.

People close to the production said that the Pathaan actress asked for a tight 8-hour workday, which didn’t fit with the director’s plan for the movie’s busy shooting schedule. This apparently made Vanga angry, so she was taken off the project instead of leaving on good terms. There hasn’t been an official word from the production team yet, but sources say that they are already looking for a new female lead.

Prabhas plays a tough police officer in Spirit, which is slated to be a high-octane action movie. The movie has been under pre-production for months and was supposed to start filming later this year. Fans had been waiting for Vanga to come back following the huge success of Animal.

Reports further say that Deepika was about to get her biggest paycheck ever for Spirit, which was thought to be around Rs 20 crore. But director Sandeep Reddy Vanga was reportedly annoyed by her tough attitude on a number of production-related issues, which led him to discontinue their relationship.
