Dadasaheb Phalke Biopic by Aamir Khan and Rajkumar Hirani
Often regarded as the Father of Indian Cinema, Dadasaheb Phalke’s legacy is celebrated yearly with India’s most renowned cinema award called after him. Still, until now, Hindi film has never completely told his narrative on the silver screen despite his great contribution. Can you believe it? We are now having that biopic. Bollywood great Aamir Khan and Rajkumar Hirani are scheduled to work on Dadasaheb Phalke’s biography, expected to start production this year.
Set against the Indian independence struggle, the next movie will tell the amazing story of Phalke, an artist who surmounted great obstacles to establish the groundwork for one of the world’s biggest film studios.
According to reports, the production is set to start in October 2025. Aamir Khan would start getting ready for the part only after Sitaare Zameen Par release. VFX labs in Los Angeles have already created AI-generated designs to fit the historical backdrop of the film, so genuinely recreating the period.
Over the last four years, director Rajkumar Hirani and authors Abhijat Joshi, Hindukush Bharadwaj, and Avishkar Bharadwaj have been working on the screenplay. Dadasaheb Phalke’s grandson, Chandrashekhar Srikrishna Pusalkar, has also provided great help to the project by sharing uncommon personal stories from Phalke’s life.

Aamir and Rajkumar Hirani have worked together before on movies including 3 Idiots and PK, all of which have been tremendous successes. Modern viewers have also grown to like the movies, which are sometimes referred to as masterpieces. Will the pair once more produce the same enchantment?
